Why are you running for office?
After 28 years of Democratic governors, Delaware needs a housecleaning, and it starts on Tuesday, November 3rd, when dissatisfied Democratic voters revolt, and along with others, elect a qualified Republican for governor.
Why should voters choose you?
As a native-born son of Delaware, I sincerely care about the future of our State. The governor is the chief executive officer of our largest corporate entity. As a seasoned business executive with over 30 years in private industry, in tandem with 44 years of being an active Republican, my credentials as a leader and manager who understands the “business of politics” make me uniquely qualified to be the next Republican Governor.
What is the state doing well?
Delaware’s budget under 28 years of Democratic governors has grown exponentially, well in excess of the State’s growth in gross domestic product.
What are areas of concern in the state?
Delaware is rated among the most corrupt states in these United States. With such a reputation, creating jobs and related economic growth is a futile uphill battle. Instead of having prosperous communities offering career opportunities for our youth to remain here, we simply have become a retirement destination for people escaping from surrounding high-tax liberal states.
What are your top three priorities if elected?
- Creation of an office of an inspector to independently root out corruption, fraud, and abuse of power in Delaware government.
- Implement a zero-base state budgeting process to curb the runaway growth in the cost of Delaware’s government.
- Reform the Family Court of Delaware based on the highly-rated Connecticut model of an open court that, first and foremost, serves the children, parents, families, and others in a fast, efficient, caring manner.
How would you help our state deal with the pandemic and its effects?
As a Republican governor, contrary to the adversarial demeanor of our current Democratic governor, I would partner with the Republican administration in Washington to seek out the most successful strategies and resources to minimize the economic damage wreaked upon our small struggling businesses that appear to have been unfairly targeted by the shutdown.
What importance do you place on bipartisanship?
The governor of Delaware is elected to serve all the citizens of Delaware. Therefore, there is a most serious duty to work, as much as possible, with whoever is sent to our State Legislature by their constituents. A Republican governor also serves the important role of gatekeeper to stop extremely liberal legislation, and conversely, extremely conservative legislation, detrimental to the Constitutional rights and general welfare of our citizens from being signed into law.
